How to Write Essays in Graduate School

How to Write Essays in Graduate SchoolOne of the most difficult things a student in grad school can encounter is finding the right type of essay for the particular situation. It's impossible to be completely aware of everything a professor might be thinking or how he/she might interpret a particular topic when you're in that situation. So, how do you find the best essay examples?- Your local library. You can find many professional opinions on the Internet but you'll probably only be able to get expert advice from professors at your own school.- You can always ask the assistance of an adviser. Do not approach your advisor with a question like this. A good number of instructors have the knowledge that you don't and it would be best to ask them for guidance in order to avoid something embarrassing like losing points or getting a failing grade.- When you are looking for essay samples, stick to the issues you are working on, not things outside of your field. Do not try to cover every angl e of a problem. Sometimes, even if you are working on a problem, you are able to determine why it is important or not important.- First read the essay. Be sure you understand the key points and then try to summarize them in one sentence. Many of the essays that are out there will give you plenty of different examples of how to write.- Next, you should think about the environment that you are in and what kinds of topics are more suitable for it. Knowing what types of topics you want to write about can help you figure out the best essay examples for that situation.- After reading the first couple of pages, be sure to take notes on the initial drafts of the essay. This can be done by taking a pen and writing down any ideas you've had about a topic or anything else that strikes you as interesting.Writing for this situation can be very different than writing in general. It's likely that you're going to come up with a number of different ideas that might overlap, which is okay. The key is to keep working on it so that when you are finished, you can be confident that it has a solid foundation.
